Chew magazine is blowing out candles this month – two to be exact! And we’re mighty pleased that this underground magazine – fanzine, microzine, independent magazine (call it what you like) – have been challenging traditional perceptions of magazines and design and have pushed the boundaries of creativity and expression for the past two years. We’ve published work from incredibly talented creatives from all corners of the globe – from India to Germany, Holland to America and back home. We’ve met groundbreakers and creative junkies who share a common passion: to constantly seek new ways to express themselves in an edgy and unexpected way. And we serve it up in a high-quality magazine to an ever-hungry audience. Just have a look at the 2nd Birthday Edition to see what we mean… Chew inspires and is inspired by our readers. Some say it “blows [their] mind!”, while others #FF us because we “are so fabulously ill – glad to have discovered you!” and send us air kisses. “Chew is fresh, original and unique, the key elements needed to stand out as a pop-culture publication in SA today. With interesting articles, photo-shoots and cool design work, Chew also provides a much-needed platform for young artists and writers to express themselves, offering them creative freedom that ultimately gives this magazine a definitive irresistible edge.” [Thanks Kudi, blush blush … one large slice of Bday cake on its way to you.] Here’s to another chew-a-licious year ahead in the creative virtual playground.
